The V&A Inside Out
This is a project that explores the human curiosity of forbidden spaces. That drive that has us hoping to find hidden doorways leading to enchanting and terrifying space, the fact that the imagination is more powerful than any picture could be. By showing the storage facilities without any of the objects stored, we allow people’s imaginations to do the work, they will imagine the most wonderful and exotic of items behind those ultra-modern sliding doors.
The images show the V&A making its final transition from traditional museum to cutting edge, contemporary space for art and design. The image selection moves from the V&A’s traditional storage to the hyper futuristic facilities now used. They are so modern, almost Kubrick like in their aesthetic, that the exhibition tells a dramatic story of re-invention.
